Specific co-morbidities can impact the health status of PD patients.   Cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease and other neuropsychiatric conditions are among co-morbidities found in PD; however, many times it is difficult to establish if symptoms are associated with PD or with a different disease state.

In recent months studies on melanoma and PD have found that Parkinson’s patients are a greater risk for melanoma, and this an area of current research.
